Don has sold a LOT of cartoons in his career. Each numbered cartoon or illustration on the left side of this Blog is from a DIFFERENT magazine, newspaper, etc. Let's see if we can find out the total number of publications (places) where Don's work has appeared . . . . . (An unnumbered posting is a duplicate publication.)

5. Dell 1000 Jokes Magazine

This monthly magazine by its title was obviously a big cartoon market, but they only paid $15.00 per gag. Still, $15.00 in those days would buy a dinner out for two with wine.

This cartoon was printed full page on the inside front cover in a February issue in the early 1960s. The exact year is not known.

Don,

Ah, who can believe that there was ever a magazine like "1000 Jokes" (and "For Laughing Out Loud"). This cartoon looks very familiar, and I had some stuff in the Feb '64issue, so maybe that's the year.
(They also paid $15 for an 18-line verse.)
