Too bad more cowboys didn't see their doctors about their itchy trigger fingers. There might have been a whole lot less gun battles, but it's pretty likely Hollywood would have made all those westerns anyway.
This cartoon was a possible sale to either a medical or a "wild west" magazine. Luckily for Don, Medical Opinion snapped it up for $50.00. A western themed publication during that time was True West, and it may have the dubious honor of paying cartoonists one of the lowest fees ever: $3.00. The inflation guide says that is $14.57 today, just enough for a decent bottle of wine -- and in 1973, too.
