Don has sold a LOT of cartoons in his career. Each numbered cartoon or illustration on the left side of this Blog is from a DIFFERENT magazine, newspaper, etc. Let's see if we can find out the total number of publications (places) where Don's work has appeared . . . . . (An unnumbered posting is a duplicate publication.)

60. True Detective, 1970

There were several detective magazines Don sold cartoons to in 60s and beyond. Some including True Detective (claimed to be the original fact crime magazine) were titles of Macfadden Publications, Inc., which was started with a body building magazine by Bernarr Macfadden (born McFadden). See more on this interesting character at http://www.riverflow.com/macfadden/macfadden5.html. Another title credited to Macfadden Publications was Photoplay. That magazine included a glamorous full-page, glossy, color photo of a beautiful and popular movie star wearing a bathing suit or other skimpy outfit. Wonder if Hef got his idea for the Playboy centerfolds from this?
