Yet another detective magazine was Official Detective. We have learned that the publisher was TD Publishing Corporation, New York, thanks to bookseller Patterson Smith. His website http://www.patterson-smith.com/ includes a truly amazing list of detective magazines. Under "categories" go to True Detective Magazines, then "see list" in the first paragraph. Wow!
As for TD Publishing, we suspect the "TD" stands for True Detective, which takes us back to Macfadden Publications, and that explains the common bond several of Don's printed cartoons have--the magazine title in the upper right or left hand corner.
Don has sold a LOT of cartoons in his career. Each numbered cartoon or illustration on the left side of this Blog is from a DIFFERENT magazine, newspaper, etc. Let's see if we can find out the total number of publications (places) where Don's work has appeared . . . . . (An unnumbered posting is a duplicate publication.)
