The cartoon below was published in a book of over 600 cartoons submitted to the sixth "International Simavi Cartoon Competition." All cartoons are without caption. Five cartoons by four cartoonists are from the U.S. An explanation of the competition appears in the front of the album as follows. (Translation errors have been corrected.)
The "International Simavi Cartoon Competition", started in 1983, is one of the cultural and arts activities of the Hürriyet Foundation. Including Turkey's largest daily, the Hürriyet, the foundation has 15 large companies, active in various sectors, under its control.
The sixth "International Simavi Cartoon Competition", organized by the Hürriyet Foundation, and which ended on September 5, 1988, arose the interest of 558 artists from 39 countries who participated with 1623 cartoons. 637 cartoons, the works of 393 artists, were presented to the jury and exhibited.
