This cartoon is from a book titled Cats Cats Cats, a collection of great cat cartoons, edited by Sam Gross and published by Harper & Row, 1986. Don contributed nine gags to this book and happily so as a cat lover. Cats he and his wife Suzy have nurtured over the years are Hamlet, Giki, Pinkie, Tippy, Schwanzie and her litter of four, Tracks, Teddy, Champagne and Sugar. (The latter three found other homes at about eight weeks.) Then there was Bogey and now Cleo. They ranged from gray, to gray and brown tabby to all black and black and white.
Each possessed its own distintive personality.
Hamlet: scared away a burglar --- Giki: serious and gentle --- Pinkie: loved laps --- Tippy: fat, always keep the bowl full --- Schwanzie: a bobtail, sweet and a very good mother --- Tracks: could spin his tail like a helicopter --- Cleo: taps Suzy on the leg when she wants to play.
