As shown above the caption, Don's vultures first appeared in the National Enquirer. We seem to recall that the gagline was a take off on some often heard advertising slogan. Toothpaste? Mouthwash? We don't recall what, and a web search didn't supply the answer, so if you know send us a comment.
Don has sold a LOT of cartoons in his career. Each numbered cartoon or illustration on the left side of this Blog is from a DIFFERENT magazine, newspaper, etc. Let's see if we can find out the total number of publications (places) where Don's work has appeared . . . . . (An unnumbered posting is a duplicate publication.)
218. Best Cartoons of the Year
Editor Lawrence Lariar did a series of cartoon books with the title Best Cartoons of the Year. Some titles also included the year; others did not. For this book, you have to look at the copyright page to find out that the cartoons are from 1967 and 1968 -- sort of a fiscal year!
