Another publisher that put out a magazine filled with cartoons and jokes was Magazine Management Co., Inc. Unlike Charlton (see #29 below) which didn't see fit to credit any editors - only a subscription manager - Magazine Management, not only used a title page banner with staff names, but included "scenarios" written by its editor Robert Mende. In October 1973, the spread above appeared in Cartoons & Gags. In the same issue Don's full-page self-caricature (shown on the right) was printed with appropriate comments by Mende. (Scroll way down in the right column to see another of Don's NCS awards like the one mentioned.)
Note: The "color" in the 'Sexy Cowboy" artwork is the result of age - the magazine was printed on newsprint.
Don has sold a LOT of cartoons in his career. Each numbered cartoon or illustration on the left side of this Blog is from a DIFFERENT magazine, newspaper, etc. Let's see if we can find out the total number of publications (places) where Don's work has appeared . . . . . (An unnumbered posting is a duplicate publication.)
