Weekend was an English newspaper (supplement?) published weekly. It was the approximate size of the original Saturday Evening Post. This cartoon of Don's was one of eleven that filled a page titled "Laugh it off." The identifier at the top of page reads: WEEKEND June 8-12, 1960. That's five days, and in 1960, June 8-12 were Wednesday through Sunday. Do you suppose the English had longer weekends that Americans?
Don sold cartoons to Weekend through the Ben Roth Agency, one of two agencies selling Don's work outside the U.S. The other was Singer Communications. Both sold reprints, so Don didn't have to do any extra work. Good thing! They paid very little.
