Don has sold a LOT of cartoons in his career. Each numbered cartoon or illustration on the left side of this Blog is from a DIFFERENT magazine, newspaper, etc. Let's see if we can find out the total number of publications (places) where Don's work has appeared . . . . . (An unnumbered posting is a duplicate publication.)

173. Pocket Joke, Kakugawa Bunko

A friend kindly translated the Japanese characters on this book cover. Here's what they say with explanation. On the top: Pocket Joke (the book's title) followed by the number 7 probably referring to the 7th month, i.e., July. Under that it says "Police and Robber," the title of the gag, followed by the book's English to Japanese translator.
The vertical writing, which is on the spine of the book, repeats the book's title and names the publishing company, Kakugawa Bunko. The publisher is again named under the cartoon on the bottom right.
Note: Our record of Don's sales tells us that this cover and two other cartoons were purchased by Kadokawa in 1981. One cartoon (A tough type testifying in court says, "I am not a crooked cop...I'm an undercover crook.") appeared within the pages of this book. The other cartoon (Man tells his parrot, "If you read over my shoulder, please read to yourself.") was published in another joke book. We'll show these soon!

A gorgeous drawing with wonderful, flawless perspective. Another Orehek bullseye!
