Don has sold a LOT of cartoons in his career. Each numbered cartoon or illustration on the left side of this Blog is from a DIFFERENT magazine, newspaper, etc. Let's see if we can find out the total number of publications (places) where Don's work has appeared . . . . . (An unnumbered posting is a duplicate publication.)

179. Ways of Justice

A bit of explanation for the use of this cartoon it warranted. Over the years, text book publishers have requested permission to reprint cartoons of Don's that had appeared in a variety of magazines (usually mass market magazines). Don made it a practice to request a copy of the book, at least the first edition.

The cartoon here was reprinted in a book titled Ways of Justice published by the Macmillan Company in 1969. The front cover credits Macmillan Gateway English, A Literature and Language Arts Program; the back cover explains further, Prepared by Project English Curriculum Development Center, Hunter College. The text is quite varied including essays, short stories, poetry, dramatic script and, of course, cartoons. A foreword explains: "In the pages that follow, you will read about many lives altered by the application or misapplication of justice--or by disregard for justice . . ."
